3 Month Update

First of all I can’t believe my baby girl is 3 months old already! Everyone will tell you how quickly the time goes when you have a newborn, and they are absolutely right! I’m so excited to watch my baby girl grow but at the same time I want her to stay small enough for me to cradle her in my arms forever!

It’s pretty quiet around the house now, I think I got used to everyone being around during the summer holidays and now they’re back at work/school it’s strange. I try and get out the house as much as I can with her though, cause she seems to get irritable if we stay in all day. Plus it usually means she drops off to sleep and I get a bit of free time when we get back in the house! Her daily routine seems to be in motion now.  We’ll spend the morning playing together in bed, then she’ll nap for about 15 minutes or just chill in her cot while I have a shower and get dressed- oh yeah she’s now in a cot! The moses basket was getting too small, I noticed she could move the sides of it and so I was worried it might tip over. After that I try and get out the house or take a walk. I know that she’ll take a nap between 12-2pm so that is my few hours in the day that I can spend getting stuff done (usually working on my blog). Other than that though she’s awake and wanting my attention. So the afternoon is usually spent singing songs or catching up on my TV programmes, if I can get her to sit through them with me. Her daddy gets home around 4, which then means he can take over for a bit and I can have a little break. I can’t complain though she’s a very good baby, hardly every cries and is super chilled so I think I’ve got it pretty good!

So this month she had to get her first lot of immunisation vaccinations. Her daddy and I were both pretty skeptical about getting them done but after doing our research we decided to go ahead. I did however make it clear to the nurses that I wanted to spread out the vaccinations so that she wasn’t getting 4 injections at once. I personally believe that’s too much for a baby to take. I know a lot of people get it all done at once to avoid two lots of side effects, but I was just more comfortable doing it this way. I didn’t get a great response from the nurses (you may have seen my rant on insta stories!), they made no secret of their disapproval of my decision. They tried to talk me out of it but there was no way I was going to budge on this one, I already felt pressurised from them to get it done in the first place. Anyway they got over it and I feel much better that I did it that way. She didn’t get any side effects and I didn’t have to watch 4 needles going in to my baby girl’s body at one time.

3 months postpartum for me feels like I am pretty much back to “normal”. I didn’t have a car for a while (long story!) which meant I was having to walk everywhere; which was actually really useful in getting my fitness and stamina back. I still haven’t got round to joining the gym, I honestly salute mothers who manage to get down to the gym 3/4 times a week to work out, because I can’t seem to find the time or energy! I am back at uni now, I do a part time course in counselling which I attend one evening a week. It means having to leave her every Monday for 4 hours, which might not seem long to you, but it feels like a lifetime to me because I miss her so much! I honestly don’t know how I’m going to cope when I go back to work, but I’m trying not to think about that at the moment. I am pleased to be carrying on with my studies though, I’ve always had an interest in counselling and I think it would be such a rewarding job.

Apart from that there isn’t much else to update you on… I’m just trying to enjoy every little moment with my baby girl because I don’t want to miss a thing.
