You’ve all probably learnt from one form of social media that I have moved into my first home with my boyfriend and our baby girl. It all seemed to happen really fast, we applied for the property after only just beginning our search and then a week later we had moved in! It was a bit of a mad rush organising sofa’s, washing machines and basically every household item needed, since we had nothing; but we managed to get all the essentials in and then add to the decor as we went along. The house is a cute little 2 bedroom terraced. I say little but it actually feels pretty spacious after spending most of our time in one room at my Mum’s, sharing with my baby girl. She has her own room now-which she isn’t sleeping in much yet but that’s one thing I’m waiting to tackle at the moment as every part of my body is screaming at me to put my sleep first. Which means, yes, for now it is back to 3 in a bed!
It’s strange knowing that I have just doubled the amount of responsibilities I have now living in my own house and being Mummy 24/7, but I can honestly say I am loving it so far. As sad as it sounds I love home chores like planning meals, doing the food shopping and even cleaning (I hope my boyfriend doesn’t read this!) Those of you who are reading this and know me well are probably thinking…’what the hell is she gonna eat?’ Well guess what people….I’ve started cooking! We’ve been living here for almost a month now and already my culinary skills have gone from beginner to what I would consider pretty damn advanced. Okay so maybe that’s an exaggeration but I am proud of myself for managing to get a variety of dishes out on the table every night for dinner. I feel much more comfortable cooking in my own kitchen, probably because I know where everything is, what ingredients I have and not having to worry about people looking over my shoulder. My boyfriend’s cooked a few of his traditional Ethiopian dishes too, which I absolutely love!
I do miss being in my family home and seeing them every day, but I’m still over there at least once a week! This is a new chapter in our lives, and I am very happy and blessed to be in this position to be able to live in a house with my boyfriend and our beautiful daughter.
