I have become really interested in photography in starting my blog, and absolutely love playing around with my canon 700d. I do capture some really nice moments myself but it is always nice to have some studio shots of your children. I was lucky to be offered a free photo shoot at ZigZag photography in Leicester and experience a fun afternoon of photo taking! Before the shoot, I was contacted by a member of the team, who explained what would happen on the day and what I might like to bring e.g change of clothes, props ect. I picked 3 different outfits for my baby girl, A white Top and shorts, and blue and white checkered dress and a gorgeous little pink bodysuit. I just stayed in the 1 outfit, a grey top and a denim skirt and jacket with as I knew I wasn’t going to be in as many photos.
When I arrived on the day the photographer introduced herself and immediately put us at ease with her warm and friendly persona. Before the shoot, we were able to look through a portfolio book to see what kind of style we wanted to go for. I love the colour background (of course-pink!), so I definitely wanted to incorporate it into the shoot. The studio room upstairs was lovely; it was big and spacious and had a changing room inside. During the shoot we got a variety of different angles and styles. I got in a few of the photos but my baby girl definitely wanted to take the spotlight! She absolutely loved posing for the camera- back up straight, pouty face! The atmosphere of the shoot was really positive and energetic and I felt really comfortable in the photographer’s presence.
I went back a few weeks later with my partner, Biniam for the photo viewing; and it was so lovely! The studio called me the day before the viewing to remind me of my appointment as they had done before the photoshoot. Although I had it in my diary I was grateful for the reminder, as I have a habit of double booking myself recently! The pictures from the shoot turned out amazing, and the overall viewing experience, I thought was beautiful. We sat in a room with sofas and watched the photos in a slideshow projected onto the wall. Yup, I did get a little emotional… But can you blame me Bruno Mars ‘Just the way you are was playing’ in the background! Once the slideshow had ended I had a moment of realisation that I wasn’t gonna be able to leave without these photos and would have to dig my purse out. There were some lovely moments captured and I couldn’t leave behind the pictures of my baby girl’s adorable face!
We went with a digital package because I prefer to have the photos on my computer and can print them myself. So we narrowed it down to 10 pictures that we wanted to purchase, which cost us £250, which we choose to pay in instalments. They have a range of different price packages and photo products, but I prefer to have digital copies to use for my blog, Instagram ect and I can always print onto a canvas at a later date. There may be some of you reading this who think that’s crazy for a few photos of you and your baby! And some who understand the time and effort that goes into the editing process. I am more than happy to pay that when I know they are photos that I will treasure forever.
