With Love Kate

Dear Daughters of the World,

I wish I could tell you that the world you are in is a wonderful place for a young girl but the reality is that you are going to face pressures that you might not feel you can handle. There are influences on you that you might not even be aware of. Telling you that you are not good enough. That you are not attractive enough. Clever enough or equal to those around you.

It’s so subtle but it’s there from the day that you are born. Encouraging you to play with dolls rather than build rockets. Making you feel that others can do things better than you can. Telling you to focus on being pretty rather than being smart or strong.

But I know you are smart. And I know you are strong. You are more capable than you realise and when you put your mind to it you can achieve amazing things.

You have so many opportunities. So many chances to change the world and make it better. You can be anything you want to be so don’t hesitate. Don’t think that you might not make it and never ever believe that you might not be good enough.

Happiness only comes from being true to yourself and being the person you really are. And trust me when I say that life is short so to spend any of it being someone that doesn’t make you happy.

You will have lots of people in your life telling you who you should be but all you need to know is this;

Be a woman who is admired because she can achieve anything she wants.

Be a woman who is loved because she is kind, compassionate and caring.

Be a woman who is respected because she values herself and won’t let others treat her badly.

Be a woman who is brave and who takes risks; for love, life and thrills.

Be a woman who is happy because she follows her heart and trusts her instincts.

But most of all, be yourself because you are amazing, wonderful and loved. Just the way you are.

Love from
