Cake and Christmas- probably two of my most favourite things, so you can imagine how excited I was to receive a personalised Christmas cake from bakerdays. The cake itself was personalised with a picture of my daughter along with the wording ‘ Ayana’s First Christmas’. I designed the cake myself but there were so many styles and themes to choose from that it was tricky to pick one!
I had read that the cake was going to be delivered through my letter box, but I have to admit I didn’t think it was literal! I was impressed that the cake and even the box itself wasn’t at all damaged. Inside the box is a beautiful tin that contains the cake, a cute little card and a Christmas cracker-which I think is a lovely touch!
Inside the cracker was a purple Christmas hat, a joke and Christmas stickers. I hadn’t expected to get anything along with the cake so I thought this was a really nice addition. The gifts inside the cracker were traditional and fun, adding to the celebration element of the gift.
Now for the taste test! It wasn’t the tastiest piece of cake I had eaten. The thin slice didn’t contain any filling like a sponge cake normally had, so for me it was a little dry. However the sponge was soft and I think the cake was well made. I would say the style of the cake was more impressive than the taste, but I had expected that much. The size of the cake is about the same as my hand spread out. It is small but you can get around 5-6 small pieces out of it.
I think this is such a wonderful gift. The personalisation element is what makes it for me. They have so many themes to choose from, you could send a cake to someone for their birthday, Christmas or even just to say ‘I love you’. I think next time I would choose a different flavour but I would definitely order from them again.
