The most important relationship we have as humans is the relationship we have with ourselves. Like many others, it is often conflicted by circumstance and change but a deep-rooted confirmation of self-love allows us to be true to who we are and therefore allows us to be an honest version of ourselves in the relationships we develop with others.
Affirmations; a simple, positive statement phrased in the present tense as if it were already true.
Positive affirmations were something that I first introduced to my daughter. I would focus on the three key attributes I wanted her to confirm
Positive affirmations are a way of controlling your subconscious mind. It can change your whole mood for the day, week and even year. You are able to take control over the way you feel, think and act; however, the life-changing part is really down to you. You need to identify what it is that you want to affirm in your life and then instead of saying ‘it will’ you need to believe ‘it is’. To attract positive change into your life you need to be emitting positive energy out into the world, and that can be done by acting as if the goal is already a reality. The mind is everything. We are a product of our own thoughts, what we think we become therefore change your thoughts and you will change your life.
Lets put this into action, so find a mirror, get over the fact that you feel a little bit silly, concentrate on the person in front of you and start listing the affirmations you want to reinforce in yourself. If you haven’t yet identified the area of change you want to make try some of these to begin with:
I AM CONFIDENT.
I AM IN CHARGE OF HOW I FEEL TODAY AND I CHOOSE HAPPINESS.
I AM UNIQUE AND THEREFORE DO NOT NEED TO COMPARE MYSELF TO OTHERS.
I AM IN CONTROL OF MY OWN DESTINY.
I AM LOVED.
I AM SUCCESSFUL.
I HAVE AN ABUNDANCE OF ENERGY.
TODAY I WILL LEARN AND GROW.
I AM FEARLESS.
Recognise the powerful tone in stating things that are in the present tense. Repeat these affirmations daily; maybe write them down on a piece of paper, stick it up above your mirror or what I like to do it set it as my phone screen saver. If you catch yourself speaking about these affirmations as if they are in the future or any negative thoughts spill into your mind STOP YOURSELf. Change these into positive thoughts right there and then. You are changing your mind, your attitude and your aura. Recognise this, notice the changes in your daily mood and be happy for it. You are on the road to a positive and successful life.
Finally, I will leave you with this quote… ‘A great attitude becomes a great mood. A great mood becomes a great day. A great day becomes a great year. A great year becomes a great life.’
